PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Wednesday was moving day for the Portland Pirates.
As construction continues at the Cumberland County Civic Center, the space that has housed locker rooms and training facilities for more than thirty years has to be cleared out. Bisson Moving and Storage was hired to take on the job. The movers are transporting the equipment to the Maine Hockey Group ice arena in Saco, where the team will be practice through the off season.
They modestly say this was similar to any other job, but they admit there were things at the Civic Center they don’t see every day.
“It’s a little more interesting,” Conor Mingle said. “Like we had a couple of the tables we disassembled, underneath what was holding the counter top up was cut up hocBisson Makes it Happen: Portland Pirates Move out of the Civic Centerkey sticks. We’ve pretty much found cut up hockey sticks behind things, holding things to the wall, so it was pretty cool.”
