The current situation has forced all of us to make drastic changes to our daily life. While the changes are necessary, there has been a lot to adapt to in a relatively short time span.
This post will highlight methods our consultants are utilizing so we can continue to provide accurate estimates while social distancing. It will explain the options available to you in more detail to help make an informed decision.
Option 1: Your first option is to email a list of items to your consultant. This list will have the room name, approximate sizes of the items using sm, md, lg (e.g. Lg Cabinet, Sm Table), and approximate number of boxes as well as any photographs you can provide. We will also ask about access for the trucks, stairs, flooring, etc., the more information the better!
Option 2: We have also used a combination of Option 1 with your photos from your realtor’s listing. The photo below illustrates it from our end. Just be sure to let us know if you hid anything in the basement or attic before the photographer arrived!
Option 3: is a phone survey, where you go through each room and describe the contents to your consultant. Again, basic dimensions are sufficient, and be sure to go through your home beforehand to take note of the items being moved. Remember those large rugs, paintings, or items like outdoor furniture.
Feeling a Bit More Tech Savvy?
Option 4: If you have a smartphone or tablet, you can utilize Apple’s Facetime for a video call. If you are using an Android phone you can download Skype or a similar program (Microsoft Teams, Zoom). This means you can stand in the room and we can see what is being moved and packed as we go through your home.
Option 5: A more secure video survey completed through an app developed by Atlas Van Lines. This process is great for interstate and local moves, regardless if you have an Android or Apple device. Once your appointment is scheduled you will receive an email that outlines the instructions to launch the survey. You download the app through the Google Play Store or App Store, and then follow the instructions emailed to you!
We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we work to adapt to the new “normal”. Working together will limit the impact here in Maine. As we continue to operate we need to protect our staff and customers as best we can.
